Baraka Blue performs his signature soulful poetry and hip-hop music globally. His performances have taken him from rapping for thousands of children at orphanages in Turkey to reciting for, and learning from, elders in remote Indonesian islands. He tours regularly and has performed in places such as the U.K., Ireland, France, Morocco, The Gambia, Australia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, Algeria, and many venues across North America. Experience an intimate acoustic café style night of poetry and storytelling or a large-scale heart-felt musical performance.
In addition to performances, Baraka Blue is a teacher with a Masters Degree in Islamic Studies. His research focuses on Sufi Poetry, traditional Islamic Psychology/Spirituality, and Islam and Muslim communities in the West. He teaches regularly at Taleef Collective and helped formulate their Mu’allif Mentorship program, training community leaders to serve the practical and spiritual needs of their communities. He has regular workshops, retreats, and speaking engagements on topics such as Creative Writing, Writing as Spiritual Practice, Themes in Sufi Poetry, Understanding Rumi, Islam & Hip-Hop, Traditional Islamic Psychology: Ghazali and the Heart, Spiritually Transmitted Diseases, & Building Prophetic Communities.
